Meet Our Summers: Cynthia Madrid

July 28, 2023

What made you interested in law as a Career?

I first became interested in law as a career when I watched my mother start her own small business. I wasn’t as great as her in the kitchen so, I became interested in the legal side of it as I realized the many concerns and regulations that went in to running a small business.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I like to stay active either by going to the gym or going on a run.

What made you want to apply to Cullen and Dykman’s Summer Associate Program?

The program’s objective in diversifying the legal field made me what to apply. It’s important that the legal field reflects our community so we can improve the workplace and encourage others to take on this career.

What have you enjoyed most about Cullen and Dykman’s program so far?

So far, I have enjoyed getting to meet all the attorneys and learning about the different practice areas. I have been able to complete assignments that have challenged me and exposed me to practices that I never thought of but have come to enjoy.

What academic/professional achievement are you most proud of?

During undergrad, I became vice president of an organization that brought awareness to the issue of domestic violence among the immigrant community. I was able to give back to my community by informing individuals on the necessary resources and aid available for them.

Favorite Quote?

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value” –Albert Einstein

What advice do you have for prospective Summer Associates?

Keep an open mind and explore the various practice areas. Ask for feedback and apply it positively you can continue to improve and learn.
